Stanze dipinte vicino a Pompei

Pittura parietale romana

Pareti di due ville romane che il Vesuvio seppellì nel 79, dipinte circa cent’anni prima: la villa di Publio Fannio Sinistore a Boscoreale e una villa imperiale a Boscotrecase. Il cubicolo di Boscoreale, dipinto su ogni parete con città e colonnati, colonne e pannelli rossi che aprono il muro su un’architettura immaginaria, una ghirlanda con maschere appese, una donna con la lira su una sedia intagliata, un’altra che regge uno scudo, e Perseo che libera Andromeda in un mare verde azzurro.

Come puzzle

Grandi campi di rosso pompeiano, nero e verde, con la vita nei bordi: colonne, ghirlande, cornici dipinte. Parti dalle figure e dalle linee dritte dell’architettura, poi riempi i campi di colore, abbastanza crepati e consumati da dare a ogni pezzo un po’ di grana. Le due pareti nere di Boscotrecase sono lente, quindi tienile su un numero basso; il cubicolo e le donne sedute reggono bene un numero moderato.

Una buona misura qui: 40–160 pezzi.
