Mythen en legenden

De oude verhalen, in verf verteld. Isfandiyar die zijn draak doodt in het Shahnameh, Hanuman die de geneeskrachtige kruiden brengt voor Rama en Lakshmana, het oordeel van Paris van Cranach, Diana verrast in haar bad, de riviergod van Rubens die zijn gasten onthaalt, de blinde reus van Poussin op weg naar de opkomende zon, en de goden van Tiepolo die zich op een plafond verdringen. Perzische, Indiase en Europese verhalen naast elkaar.

Als legpuzzel

Vol, kleurrijk en vriendelijk. Figuren, harnassen, vleugels en felle stoffen vullen deze schilderijen tot aan de randen, en de boekschilderingen voegen vlakke kleur binnen getrokken lijsten toe. De zachte luchten van de Venetiaanse plafonds en de donkere gronden achter de naakten zijn de tragere stukken, dus begin bij de mensen en de monsters.

Een goede maat hier: 50–250 stukjes.
