Plekken die mensen bouwden en bewoonden. Het San Marcoplein van Canaletto en een Venetiaans campo, de Rialto uit het atelier van Guardi, de boulevard van Pissarro op een winterochtend, gezien vanuit een hotelraam, de Pont Neuf van Jongkind, de kathedraal van Salisbury van Constable tussen de bomen, de stadspoort van Pirna van Bellotto, en een dorp bij een Japans tempelbos. Steen, ramen en lucht.

Als legpuzzel

Rechte lijnen zijn hier het geschenk. Daklijnen, ramen, bruggen en boten geven bijna elk stukje van een straat iets om te plaatsen, en de randen van de gebouwen geven je stevige lijnen om langs te bouwen. De luchten zijn het trage deel, gesorteerd op de kleinste verandering in toon. Bijna allemaal zijn ze breder dan hoog.
