This page names what is stored on your device and who stores it. We set one small cookie of our own, to remember your language. Our analytics set none, and no advertising runs here.
Whose cookies these are
We set no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. One small cookie of our own remembers your language, described further down. Everything else we keep stays in your browser.
Analytics, without cookies
We use Umami to see roughly how many people visit and which pages they reach. It uses no cookies and keeps no personal data, only anonymous, aggregate figures. Its script is loaded from our own address, and what it measures goes on to Umami’s own servers, which count it for us. Cloudflare, our host, also counts page views with its Web Analytics script, which sets no cookies either. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
What we store in your browser, and why
So the puzzle is there when you come back, we keep a little information in your browser's own storage. The small things sit in local storage, your lamp and your sound level among them, and a picture you upload sits in IndexedDB, your browser's store for larger files. This is functional, not tracking, and it never leaves your device:
- the game you are playing on your own, a jigsaw or a game of Jigsaw Solitaire, Jig Rummy, Jigiban or Memory, and a co-op Jigiban level you are building on this device, so you can step away and resume them,
- The Pieces: today’s board, where your pieces are, and your results, so a day you started stays where you left it,
- the picture you chose for a table, and the file itself if you uploaded one,
- whether you bought a coffee from the tip jar, so the notice board says thank you instead of asking again,
- a small token for each shared table, kept until two days after you last used it, so you can take your seat again after a refresh or after closing the tab, plus a random id for this browser, the display name you last typed and how you arranged your hand at a shared game of Jig Rummy. The token an invite link carries moves out of the address bar into storage that belongs to the tab it opens in, and your browser clears it when that tab closes. At a shared table your browser also remembers whether you left the chat open and how loud the voice is, and, for that tab only, whether you muted the voice.
There is one cookie of our own, and it is not for tracking. The first time you arrive we look at your browser language, and we remember the language you ended up on in a cookie called cbp_lang, so the site does not have to work it out again on every visit. Picking a language yourself writes the same cookie. It lasts a year, it holds nothing but a language code, and it is never read by anyone else.
A shared table is the one thing that is not kept here. It lives on the server that keeps the two of you in sync, so either of you can close the tab and come back to the same pieces, and it is deleted two days after the last piece moves. The token in your browser is the key to your seat, not a copy of the puzzle.
Advertising
No advertising runs on this site, and no advertiser stores anything on your device. There are no social media tracking pixels.
What comes from outside
Two things do come from outside. Cloudflare, our host, adds its Web Analytics script to every page: it counts page views and how quickly they load, sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. And when you set up a table for two, a Cloudflare Turnstile check runs to keep bots out. It can store something in your browser for that check, it is not advertising, and it does not follow you between sites.
Clearing it
You are always in control. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything we have stored on your device, including any saved puzzle.
